Our Story
ROOST was born from our own experiences as tenants and landlords in London. We're James, Hannah, and Emily — three friends who met while sharing a house in East London. All working in tech, we experienced firsthand the frustrations of navigating the rental market from both sides.
When we each became landlords ourselves, we were shocked by how difficult it was to stay on top of constantly changing regulations. From the Renters' Rights Act to compliance certificates and deposit protection schemes, the administrative burden was overwhelming — and existing software was either too expensive or too complicated.
So we built ROOST. A platform that makes property management simple, keeps you compliant, and treats tenants with the respect they deserve. We made it free because we believe good tools shouldn't be a luxury — they should be accessible to everyone, whether you're managing one property or a hundred.
